Coffee Berry Borer Confirmed on Kaua’i

The Hawai’i Department of Agriculture has confirmed the presence of the invasive coffee berry borer on Kaua’i. The department says this is the first detection of the coffee berry borer on Kaua’i, while the pest has been found on Hawai’i Island, Maui, and O’ahu for several years. A Kalaheo resident submitted suspected infested coffee berries to the Kaua’i Invasive Species Committee on September 3. Kaua’i Coffee was informed of the detection on the island, but so far have not detected any sign in its fields.
