Rent and Housing Assistance

Governor Ige has earmarked $100-million dollars in federal grant money to launch the State of Hawaii Rent Relief and Housing Assistance Program. The program will provide up to 15-hundred dollars per month to renters on Kaua’i who are unemployed because of COVID-19 and who also make less than the Area Median Income. For tenants who apply, the money would go directly to landlords. Those already receiving federal or state rent subsidies are not eligible. The funds come from the federal CARES Act.
