Brushfire Near Lihu’e Airport

Firefighters contained a 100-acre brushfire that broke out near the makai side of Lihu‘e Airport on Monday afternoon. One firefighter was injured and was later released from Wilcox Hospital. The fire broke out at around 2:30 p.m. near Ninini Point, along the makai side of the Lihu‘e Airport. Multiple units responded to the incident. The blaze did not reach nearby structures and was contained about 7:45 Monday evening. The cause of the brushfire is under investigation.
